  1. Finally my tank is cycled 🤞🏻 Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate all good.
My goal is to house neo caradina shrimp, some nano fish, snails, and plants.

Planning everything around 7 ph that’s what most species that I want requires. For pleco , shrimp dwarf Cory’s and such that they do best with drift wood, Almond leaves and or Alder cones. All of which lower ph. So my ph was running right at 7 . I’ve had the wood in since the beginning and only have one Alder cone in the 40 gallon. My ph is running 6.5 to 6.8. Is there anything I should do? Will it level out?  I’m trying not to play ph tug of war(add coral so I can add an Alder cone add baking soda so I can add an Almond leaf🤷🏼‍♂️) Thanks

  2. The reason I stated it, because they both take the same cartridge, figured the wheels would be same too 🤷🏼‍♂️ Guess not.

But yeah I use sponge and some floss for now. I don’t use the cartridge because of carbon and I’m trying to grow plants.
    Good video, thanks 👍🏻

  3. Wish things were easier. Had two Marinland 200 on my tank, decided to go with one 375 filter. Both use same filter cartridge #C, figured I’d put existing Bio wheels and filter sponges in new filter so all be good, continue with the good bacteria. Love the filter, extremely quite and self priming. But Bio wheels are not the same size WTH🤦🏼‍♂️ Even tried trimming the axles , still didn’t work 😡

  4. Some of you know I’m cycling/seasoning my 40g with snails and plants.

We have Ramshorn, Mystery and Trapdoor snails. My wife instantly fell in love with this one Mystery snail.

‘This morning she runs up to show me a picture of her favorite snail, and says she no longer likes it because he’s being nasty!🤷🏼‍♂️🤔

I looked at picture and started laughing 😂 I said it’s fine you can still love it, it’s just a breathing tube 🤦🏼‍♂️😅🤪😂😂

  5. Getting my 40g breeder planted tank ready, been running 3 weeks now. Started with some plants and snails, water test have been spot on every day. Today Nitrite was up a smigg , Nitrate was in the middle range of ok. So I did and ammonia test .25 So I did a water change. Anything else I should do? Thanks

  6. The glass top that I got for my aquarium wouldn’t work with the HOB filters I picked out. So searched for aquarium lids/top. The one I liked best was the double walled polycarbonate panels used in green houses. Ordered some and searched best way to cut said panels. Everything from band saws, table saw and razor knives. I chose the razor knife, thinking would be less waist of material and razor would make a smoother edge.

‘It worked ok but wasn’t real happy with the results and had to make multiple passes to cut through but would do in a pinch. I decided to make part of it removable to ease in feeding and water test without taking the lights off then removing the whole top. So I wanted to make about a 4” removable door with a 3M hook for a handle. I decided to try my cordless dremel with a tiny saw blade attachment. Wow glad I did, a much better and easier way to polycarbonate panels. Placed a straight edge were I wanted to cut and followed it👍🏻 Piece of cake.

  7. Thanks, mostly neos, maybe some filter shrimp, maybe a CPO🤷🏼‍♂️ Have awhile to think about it while tank is cycling/seasoning.
Some folks don’t recommend Cholla wood, so we’ll see.

Im sure most if not all know this, Lava rock is so much cheaper at a landscape place than a aquarium store 😳

  8. Set the tank up four days ago. Used Florite Black substrate, I washed be placing in tank. Water still seems cloudy and has a whitish sediment on top of gravel, done partial water changes. Have two Hang on filters. Does it normally take awhile to clear up? Planning on doing another water change (50%) today and try to suck up some of the sediment. Thanks

  9. Hello, I’ve had numerous tanks and a pond in the past. Done a little of everything except saltwater. My tanks ranged from betta bowls to a custom 150gal. Moved across country and got rid of everything 🤷🏼‍♂️Been out of the hobby for about 10 years. Wife talked me into starting up again. So decided to try something a little different. A planted/invertebrates/community tank. In process of setting up a 40g breeder and a 20g tall, I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions. Thanks
