Would Harlyquin rasboras work. I am going for a tank without a heater so they would probably have to be fish on the colder side.

I know they can live in temperatures as low as 72 degrees and as high as 80 degrees. They're a tropical fish so I would assume they like warmer water. I do know CPDs can live in cold water as can rainbow shiners. So maybe those might work better without a heater.

  2. How about rasboras or neon tetras? They tend to stay in the middle and are a great schooling fish. Cherry shrimp or blue velvet shrimp are also great for a 5 gallon set up, I have some cherry shrimp and orange bee shrimp in my 5 gallon. You could also try some ottocinclus catfish. They're great algae eaters and you can have about 2-3 in a five gallon planted tank. I have 3 of these guys in a 5 gallon long tank and they're a great algae eating clean up crew.

  3. Hi everyone, I'm having an odd problem with my 9 gallon Fluval Flex. I set it up about a week ago. It's a heavily planted tank with a betta fish and a nerite snail. I did a in-fish cycling and so far everything has been going smoothly until yesterday. It's starting to cycle however, after I did a 50% water change last night and filled the water back up I noticed that the intake filter isn't working properly. I've done my research on the tank and I haven't seen any one mention problems with the intake per say. The problem is that it's sucking in debris and other things but it spits it right back out into the water. I ran some tests on my water as did my local fish store and my ammonia was spiked which is why I did a large water change yesterday and I'm glad I did. Would the intake working incorrectly have a large effect on the ammonia? I would appreciate any advice and or suggestions on how to fix this problem.

  4. Hi everyone I'm Kat. I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hello! I've had fish for a little over 3 years however, I've recently joined the planted nano tank world about 6 months ago. I have two bettas both male. The first is my Crowntail Ren, I've had him for about 6 months and I love him. The second is my baby Patriot and I've had him for about a month. He's super sweet and I love him to bits! Looking forward to fish geeking out with everyone here.  😄
