  1. Thanks for the advice information I knew this forum would help you are truly amazing ,helpful and my people!
  2. So I went to my favorite Aquarium Shoppe today. I should be glad we still have one here and the big boxes haven’t taken that over or the evil Amazon anyway I saw some rather interesting fish, not puffers and I got to thinking you know I’ve done marine tanks years ago Primarily I’m a freshwater guy think that’s logical cause I’m away from oceans but I’ve been thinking about doing a brackish water tank . So here is my question do you freshwater bacteria to cycle it in then gradually raise the solidity up or do I bring you salty all the way up no animals in a tank of course, and start off with marine cycling bacteria that’s my question. Lies and when I asked, a reefer guy he explained that I should just get live rock but I really don’t want to do that. Something about unknown parasites in my glass box. I’m not comfortable with that unless you guys think it’s the best way to handle this. Looking forward to your always informed content, thank you
  3. Ok I took a runner of what I believe is crab grass set it on the top surface of my 20 gallon quarantine tank. To my surprise, it is growing upward with grass shoots just an observation. I will take pictures and post them once I get back home probably Monday thank you.
  4. I have a spare 55 gallon and I’m thinking of setting up for just two blue Akara babies and grow them out maybe more like four and then rehome two of them or whichever ones decide to breathe my eventual plan. Have any suggestions on what I’m thinking it is that enough room for two? I looking to breed them down the road I have breed other cichlids thanks for any advice
  5. Thanks for the advice and help Thanks I think you’re right. Maybe it’s a little overkill maybe a small smaller container or a smaller pool filter might do the same. I think I just wanna try it and see if it works but thanks for the information and the support.
  6. I’m going to try and use a pool sand filter on a 180 gallon aquarium. I sometimes think I’m crazy but I have this wild idea that it will work. I’ve done some research and most of the public aquariums that I have contacted. Use a form of a sand filter. I guess what I’m saying is I need somebody to talk me out of this experiment or agree that it’s a worthwhile endeavor. Thank you.
  7. I have been watching so much of YouTube and different and the same producers just absolutely amazing. I hope to gain some insight into this. I keep fish real well but plants seem to melt anyway searching for a help of any kind. I’m blowing a lot of money on plants that just don’t make it.
  8. Hi, my name is Tom. I’ve been keeping fish for about 50 years. Yes I started when I was young lol I have kept the great number of species and I’m currently working on a 180 gallons and trying my best to do aqua escaping. I really haven’t done the live plants, I was such they were too hard or I didn’t have the right light something like that anyway glad to be here. Oh, I am currently in Missouri, but I am originally from New England.
