  1. It started with rescuing some Stinkpot Musk Turtles. 🐢 The option was to let the keeper toss them in the wild or I could do my best to learn as much as possible and take them in. I was given a male and female in a tiny 10g tank. I knew it was too small even before doing my research but after getting a 30g I realized even that was too small. So the tank grew as did my knowledge and admiration. I had always dreamed of having a pond with Koi. The turtles were the next best thing. Eventually I got the shiny fish I would ogle at in the pet stores. (Those silly Neon Tetras always caught my eye.) Again my knowledge and admiration grew. Here I am today with more fish and still learning something new everyday. I can sit for hours just watching.

  2. My tetra looked exactly the same. I tryed salt treatment stage one with frequent water changes replacing the salt I removed when adding the new water.  When that did not work I tryed stage 2. Then stage three. I even tryed dosing my tank with meds. Nothing seemed to work.  None of my other tetras looked ill either and my water parameters were on point. Sorry I couldnt help more.

I'm not going to be much too much help with this comment, but I've pretty much always had some form of live bearer, and I've seen similar things happen after they give birth. Birthing complications do happen from time to time. The more females you have the better, it spreads out the stress of the male trying to breed and gives them time to recover. Sometimes isolating them in a breeder box and giving them time away from the males helps. I would guess it isn't the algae wafers.

Thank you so much for your input I really appreciate it. I will try that. Ive also never been on a forum before so Im still learning how to navigate. Thanks for your patience.

  4. My female Guppy gave birth a week ago. She was fine for a few days but is suddenly swimming tail down. Whats wrong? What can I do?! My water parameters are good. I did have issues with temprature fluctuations for 4 days but was watching it like a hawk and have it stable now. I am thinking its either due to temprature fluctuations, male being over agressive, or the algae wafers for the cory? I wont rule out possible bacteria/parasite issue.

Swim bladder disease?  Do I wait and see if low stress helps? I have removed the aggressive male. Do I salt? Do I medicate?
