Comets, goldfish.. they'll winter over well if pond is deep enough.. can supply some heat to it too.  Comets and gold fish come in a variety of patterns that mimic Koi.. my were all feeder fish, and they were a great flash of color and fun to have.  For 25 cent's each feeder fish it was worth the risk monetarily and they did live 9 years 🙂

Hello from Central AZ,

 

I look forward to learning a lot from this group. I have built my own above ground pond some years back.. it eventually leaked and I moved the gold fish to a preform.. I had them over 9 years.. our turtle ate the last one about 6 months ago..  I have 2 55 gal tanks not set up as of yet. I have NO idea what to put in them. I want Electric Blue Acara, and I also like Schooling Fish like the Rummy nose.. I prefer a minimalist tank with some live plants. What is holding me back is I am in a mobile home and I am TERRIFIED the floor can't support a large tank.
