Fishdude
The tanks drilled by people in Youtube videos seem to use a 1" bulkhead on drilled aquariums. I'm wondering if the diamond hole saw drill bit should also be 1" or if it needs to be larger. They're expensive so I don't want to buy the wrong ones! Does anyone know what size Cory uses in the old video where he's drilling 20 gallon tanks for his fish room?
OnlyGenusCaps
I don't know what Cory uses, and I suspect there is variation depending on the bulkhead you are using. I've been doing a bunch of 1" bulkheads recently and I use a 45mm diamond hole saw. You might be able to check the recommended size of hole from wherever you bought your bulkheads. Sorry, I can't be of more help.
Administrators Cory Posted April 5, 2021 Administrators Share Posted April 5, 2021 45mm is what I buy and get em on Amazon, usually around $6 each.
Fishdude
Awesome, thanks guys. I had a 25mm bit in my Amazon cart and they're over $13 each so this was really helpful.

The bulkhead manufacturer should provide the relevant information on what size hole is needed. I have bought mine from BRS and their webpages show what size hole is needed for each size bulkhead they sell.
Brian
I agree. I have found the purchase price (for the most part) equates to a slightly better bit. Sometimes the give guidance on approximately how many holes can be drilled. Good luck.

I'm going to stick with Cory's guidance of drilling about 8-10 tanks per drill bit once I get the hang of it.
