My rainbow shiners are starting to color up!!!it is so hard to get a photo of them because they never stop moving I have added 5 giant danios 6 Borneo sucker loaches and the southern red belly dace have spawned a few times now so I think I have 8 that have made it to about half grown. I was also able to get a photo of my orange dwarf crayfish. Today was a water change day and I added a another pump this one is a pond pump that was being used on a 10 high waterfall so it's got some good flow to it I would guess somewhere around 3000 or 4000 gallons per hour the fish seem to be enjoying the added flow. With this pump we are looking at around 6000 gallons per hour flow rate roughly with all the pumps.

No pictures for this update but I attempted to breed my rainbow shiners in a different tank. I made a post about this but all my males that were showing color have died and I think I'm left with only females I will attempt to get more males as soon as I can but I will move the females back Until then

If I could figure out how to share video I would put in a video I took when they were last in full dress

I created a YouTube account so I could post videos there. After the video is up on YouTube I paste the link from YouTube in to my post here on the forum, and it just embeds itself in the post.

Here are some screen shots from a video I took. Note the logperch is no longer in my tank he passed away shortly after I lost surface agitation for an hour I now have A few air stones in the tank to prevent this. There is also the male stone roller in full breeding dress as well

Ok here is an update I have put my female rainbow shiners back in the tank and I just did a big water change on the tank. I was able to get a hold of 6 more red spotted rhinogobius they are young but I hope they are able to hold their own in this tank. I also just tonight added some jungle Val that I got in an auction last week so I planted all that and it's looking pretty good to me this is before and after turning all my pumps on. I also dropped a bunch of my cherry shrimp into the tank to see if any will make it. The gobies eat them but I have hundreds so I'm not super worried about losing mostly the culls to this tank.

I FOUND HIM!!! I put a madtom in here months ago and he was about the an inch long I haven't seen him sense I put it in there. As for your question @quirkylemon103 I will not have anything big enough to eat the other fish. I plan on the biggest fish being around 6 inches. I will try to remove the madtom as soon as I can because he is about 4 inches and has a mouth big enough to eat some other fish

What a cool tank! Has your driftwood sunk yet or are you still weighting it? I have a long piece of driftwood in my 55 and even though it’s been about a year, I still have to keep under the water with suction cups. 😛

Your wood is also remarkably clean. Probably thanks to all those snails! My yoyo loaches have eaten most of my snails (and yes most of my cherry shrimp too). They’re fun, jolly little fish but they’re hard on the beneficial organisms.

@quirkylemon103 I will try to trap him with a minnow trap and if that dosent work I will get him with a net when I do a water change.

@Hobbiti wish mine would do more work I have at least 3 in there and I don't think they can keep up with all the snails. I don't need them all gone I just need them to be kept in check I think they are starving because they eat my plants which I was with Cory and when he talks about snails being helpful and they are helpful in almost all the rest of my tanks. But the ones in this tank eat my jungle Val and I don't really know why they only eat it in this tank. They leave it alone in my 50 gallon I think the population in more in check there. I have come to the conclusion that I need more snail eaters to thin the herd

@Taylor Blakeyeah, it sounds like you have an overpopulation! I’m sure it would stabilize in time but maybe not before you lose all your plants... I wonder if your loaches are filling up on blackworms. Mine LOVE blackworms. I only notice mine eat a snail occasionally, though they’ve cleared out all the small and medium sized snails by now. One good thing: they really seem to enjoy picking the ramshorn egg clutches off of everything. So even if they’re not dealing with your current population, maybe they’re helping curb the reproduction? Fingers crossed for you!

Update time!!! I got black worms today it's been a long time coming but I got 2 lbs of them at tamed waters (great store if you are ever in MN Check them out). The black worms live for a long time in my tank because I keep it so cool and highly oxygenated. Because it's been a while I have gotten a few new things so my list goes as such. I have added 13 more hillstream loaches mostly Borneo suckers I have added one vampire shrimp a pair of rhinogobius zhoui and 12 more rainbow shiners 3 red claw crabs and I also added a large silver flying fox. Here are some pictures the 1-2 bamboo shrimp 3 is a rainbow darter 4 is the male zhoui 5-8 are the carpet bomb of black worms I dropped in today 9 is a female banded or rainbow darter 10-11 are some new hillstream loaches 12 is a male green sided darter. If anyone would like more pictures of anything let me know and I'll do my best
