Chiclid addict
Is there anything that would be compatible with a convict chiclid who is very aggressive that would also eat algae she has killed plecos before or should I just keep cleaning it myself
FrozenFins
I've never owned a convit cichlid. But I know in saltwater you can have snails with big monsterfish without getting eating, you could try that.
Kirsten
Not much else can survive a convict other than larger, even more aggressive cichlids. I'd opt for small, unobtrusive nerite snails like olive nerites and some burrowing snails like malaysian trumpet snails. I wonder if the horns on horned nerites would dissuade a fish from trying to eat it.
Dawn T
The only thing that survived my last convict cichlid was pond snails. They were small and unobtrusive enough, he didn't seem to care about them. He massacred mystery snails and killed a pleco, as well as a bunch of other fish before I figure out what was happening. Pond snails became his only tankmates after I isolated him. He was a sharp contrast to the convict I had years ago who lived in a community tank with angels, cories, swordtails, and zebra danios. She never messed with anyone. Him? Mass murderer for sure! 😳😁
ChefConfit
I like ramshorn snails. I think they look better than pond snails and don't take over a tank as fast, but the do reproduce fast enough that some can get picked off and the colony will survive.
