Can someone identify this shrimp?

Recommended Posts

So I have about 10-12 amano shrimp in our ten gallon planted tank. They seem to do very well and are frequently active. They do hide and I just noticed a new shrimp I've never seen before. Now all of the shrimp that went into this tank have at least started looking like a standard amano; being translucent and spotted. 2 have been darker color, but one of those darker ones must have turned into this one while hiding away. Anyone see anything like this or know what kind of shrimp it is?

So I've had a lot of shrimp breading in my tank lately. I'm around 26 of these shrimp. I think they are the above mentioned species I guess. Can anyone shed some light? I've had red ones show up, yellow, mostly brown.. the browns are fairly dark, but bellies still see through. Some are staying very see through, similar to the 1 obvious amano I have left. I have a female walking around now with babies soon to come with more. IMG_20210821_193140.jpg.d6d6bab3ba346d7f2eebe108d233fdc0.jpgIMG_20210821_193626.jpg.47e2e040fe1fe55f4b2199cc78e96965.jpgIMG_20210821_192943.jpg.61a8b7e7665cd9c09cd4ce077fa8cda8.jpgIMG_20210821_193051.jpg.93d151c941cb7c6a4c95bc28bcc02bff.jpgIMG_20210821_193007.jpg.ec820eb52df902572920cda1ce341536.jpg

When colors of shrimp interbreed they throw “wild type” (brown, dark, blackish) they retain the recessive genetic code but do not show the corespondent color (same as some brunette parents may have blonde child) and then occasionally throw the original color. Example. I mixed every color because I prefer the wild type.  I was predominately wild type for quite awhile then red took over. I have not had orange in my tank in 6 months or more but I now have an orange batch. Mind you I’m not sciencey this is just what I have seen in my tank and what I have read so do not take this as gospel. I have also heard of some stores selling wild type as a Mano because employee did not know the difference and gave wrong shrimp. I may have had an orange hiding I just never seen 🤷‍♀️
