Chris OB
I have a 50 gallon regular tank I’m going to set up and would love to try discus. Tank dimensions are 36x18x18 is this big enough for a pair or trio? Another question is my tapwater typically runs about ph 7 gh 1-4 kh 8 ph is usually around 6.8 but tends to increase after being in the tank. I do have access to a lower ph source but it’s hard water and I haven’t tested it yet
Andy's Fish Den
Your water will be fine for discus. As long as you dont play with water parameters all the time, keep them steady, they will do good. Keep the water temp up, I keep mine at 84-85. Start with good quality and healthy discus, and you will be off on a good foot. You could keep several discus in a 50 gallon tank. My usual recommendation is 10 gallons per adult fish. 1
