Nerites sometimes crawl up above the water line, and you can often miss them if you aren't looking high enough. 2. Snuggled down in the substrate. Sometimes a nerite might kind of nestle down into the substrate or next to/under a rock/plant a bit. I haven't seen them completely bury themselves, but I suppose that's possible.
