That was fun! Are those wild caught, or tank raised / bred in the hobby? Do you find that a ratio of one male to multiple females is preferable? Are they cave spawners like other Apistos?

I have 5 of these in a south american themed planted 55g community tank, three males and two females. Two of the males have paired off with two of the females, leaving one male as the odd man out. They have staked out territory on different ends of the tank, among the plants and leaf litter. One pair is among a large bunch of java fern on the back of a small log cave, and the other is among a think bunch of crypts near some rock work. No spawns yet, fingers crossed!

As much as I love the apistogramma like the orange flash, I really LOVE the wild ones. The panduro, and now the hogsloi!

These are from the Czech Republic. They can be done as pairs or harems. If you’re doing pairs getting them to bond from a larger group will usually get them up and running sooner. They females definitely want caves.
