Maracyn or Maracyn 2?

I am wondering which is better? Maracyn treats gram positive, but Maracyn 2 is good for both positive and negative.  Wouldn't it be better to treat for both types of bacteria? I am going to set up a quarantine tank so there is not active infection but as a precaution wouldn't Maracyn 2 treat what Maracyn does anyway plus the gram negative as well?

We use API E. M. Erythromycin. I believe that does treat gram-negative bacterial infections. 
 

The interwebythingy purports, “The gram-positive bacteria retain the crystal violet colour and stains purple whereas the gram-negative bacteria lose crystal violet and stain red. Thus, the two types of bacteria are distinguished by gram staining. Gram-negative bacteria are more resistant against antibodies because their cell wall is impenetrable.”

API erythromycin and maracyn are most affective against gram positive bacterial infections and maracyn2 is best at treating gram negative bacterial infection

I believe using something that treats gram negative will impact your biological filter. Something to consider.

 I have no had problems when using maracyn or maracyn2 impacting my biological bacterial not to say it can't happen it never happened to me
