Lemon
can I keep cherry shrimp in a soft/blackwater tank? I don't want caridina shrimp since they are expensive and seem sensitive for a shrimp I really want something like cherry's for my blackwater in the making community. thanks 🙂
Hobbit
I have very soft water and I always hardened it for the sake of my shrimp (and snails). Though when my tank was new I didn’t have a GH test kit yet and I had a thriving colony of cherry shrimp. I assume the GH was fairly low then but I’m not sure. I just harden the water now because I hear it’s good for them—not because I know from experience they need it. The most important thing for them is calcium, otherwise they won’t be able to molt successfully. Maybe you can provide enough calcium through their food that you don’t need to add it to the water? Lemon
what kind of food has calcium that won't harden the water? or is there a hardy species that does well in soft water?
Jungle Fan
Dennerle Shrimp Complete but there are others as well you just need to look at the ingredients. Â
