Terry
I’m new to the planted tanks, I’m question is : when a plant has the rockwool , do you simply get that clump of roots and rockwool and plant it into the gravel? Or do you remove the roots and plants without the rockwool, and plant wherever you want ? Thanks everyone,, Terry
FrozenFins
Simply take the plant out of the pot and gently making sure you don't tear any roots take the rock wool off. Then you can gently tear the roots into smaller peices of plants if you want. Heres a tip Irene has on removing rock wool, it may help:

Jungle Fan
Always remove the rock wool. Plant farms generally douse it with ferts and not removing it can cause algae problems, also some plant farms, especially those in Asia use plenty of pesticides on the rock wool to keep their merchandise healthy. The problem with that practice is what keeps the plants healthy can be a major detriment to your fish, and especially shrimp and snails. I always remove all the rock wool from the roots under running water while using a plastic fork and a brush that is designed for cleaning hummingbird feeder ports.
