Kamika
I had about five guppy fry die overnight, but I don’t know the cause. I moved the remaining fry to a clean, cycled tank. None of the remaining fry appear to be sick, but I’d like to medicate them to avoid further deaths. What meds are safe for fry?
Fish Folk
@Kamika what are all of your water parameters in the tank where fry died? Temperature? Aeration? Feeding rhythm / changes? Water change schedule? It is uncommon for guppy fry to die without clear cause. I’d be more concerned to diagnose the original sickness than blind-dose fry with meds to treat unknown ailments.
Kamika
@Fish Folk I did a 25% water change on Tuesday—the pH hovered right around 7. The water temperature was 78. Filtration: a sponge filter with an air stone inside of it. It’s a planted tank that only houses fry
quikv6
Kamika How about the other parameters, such as Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, GH/KH? Perhaps one of those parameters can give some clues as to what may be the root of the problem.
Socqua
I'd also be concerned about food. Fry need very small food and several feedings throughout the day.
