otos and plant "compatiblity"

I'm setting up my new tank's scape and thinking about plants.

I'm thinking of making one section be a Dwarf Sagittaria "forest" (tank is 12" deep) and then having a big rock on the otherside surrounded by monte carlo.  I have two questions:

1) will the monte carlo prevent the oto's from doing what they like to do on the rocks?  or will they tear up the monte carlo?

2) I heard otos like to hang out on leaves.  Is dwarf sagittaria wide enough for them to cling on and hang out or should I consider something else?

I think that the oto's will be fine. I'm pretty sure there will be enough for them to feed on on the glass or other areas in your tank. The dwarf sagittaria should be fine as well. I think as long as you have some algae in the tank or supplement with algae wafers, rapashy, or veggies, they should be fine

Otos are fine with plants and sag is okay too. My otos like the glass, smooth rocks and smooth leaves. I supplement with algae wafers, veggies etc.

They love hanging out on cryptocoryne and sword, too. Any leaves wide enough for them to lay on are good.

Otocinclus are peaceful, and will appreciate all plants, and any surfaces with algae, mulm, and biofilm. They prefer a low-stress environment.

I guess what I meant by question 2 is more about the plant.  I've only seen photos of dwarf sagittaria so I don't know the scale of it.  Is it actually wide enough for them to lay on?

This is what Dwarf Sagittaria looks like in a 7.5 gallon tank:

There are other plants in there, but it is the narrow plant with the runners. I think that Otocinclus would chill on it. I hope that helps.
