Connor Elliott
Should you run a sponge filter in a quarantine tank? I’ve just been running a heater and air stone and I’ve noticed the water gets very murky from the medication
Administrators Cory Posted February 2, 2021 Administrators Share Posted February 2, 2021 Yeah typically you'd want to run a sponge filter to have some form of filtration going in a QT tank.

Also do you have any advice on treating an active infection? My Cory Dora is not eating lethargic and his barbels are gone currently I am treating with quarantine trio and salt.
FlyingFishKeeper
In my opinion keep dosing the trio, keep the water clean, have them at low stress, and feed them good foods. You should also be careful with salt since in some concentrations it can be harmful to scaleless fish like corydoras. Some more experienced fish keepers might also be able to help you. Good luck!
Connor Elliott
Thanks I’ve heard people say 1 tbsp per 3 gallons and it is 10 gallons and I have just been putting in 1 tsp

FlyingFishKeeper
Okay, thank you, I think someone like @James Black, @Mr_Manifesto, and @Colu might be able to help more than me since I don't have very much experience with corydoras.
Mr_Manifesto
@FlyingFishKeeper has solid advice. My experience is that water quality is a main reason Cory's lose their barbs, another reason might be the substrate you're using. So keep the water clean, use the med trio as directed.
