Does a quarantine tank need to be cycled? How do you maintain quarantine water? What if you need to quarantine for a emergency and have to set a new one up?

You do need to have a cycled tank. Most all quarantine tanks are set up with a bare-bottomed, virtually no hardscape. Think of it like an emergency hospital operating room rather than like a social lounge for fish. Just two pre-primed sponge filters, and you're on your way.

You'll want an air pump, and two sponge filters. Put these into a tank already established for a few weeks, then pull them out and switch over to your quarantine tank.

In an emergency . . . well . . . that depends on what your emergency is. Do you have some sick fish?

Yeah, sometimes they get a little bit injured . . . and then things go downhill fast with the barbels. We've had that happen on some before. If you're using the Med Trio already on the main tank . . . I do not know what else to suggest. That ought to cover most circumstances. I can see how having another tank ready for the Cory to recover in would be so nice.

Not sure, honestly. If you start a new post under the Illness / Diseases category here not  the Forum, describe your cory's situation, include the photo, describe what you're doing already with med trio, someone with a lot more knowledge is bound to share their input. Best wishes to your little guy!
