ChrisD
I have some Ammannia Gracilis that has beard algae problems. They are they only plants in my tank to have a problem with beard algae. Seriously- it affects no other plants. It's pain because I keep having to trim off chunks of the plant to fight the evil badness. Y'all reckon that I am better off just ripping the plants out and buying new ones? I'd gladly pay a few bucks not to have to deal with it.
Colu
You could spot treat the plant leaves with seachem flourish excel I just did that on my Javan fern it killed all BBA on leaves
Tanked
Spot treating with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide can also be effective. Turning off the pumps and filters and treating just before the lights go out will get better results.
Administrators Cory Posted January 30, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 30, 2021 I personally don't find ripping out plants and starting over solves the problem. I'd get a fish that eats it, and work towards balancing the tank to not keep regrowing it. Replanting is a short term fix in my experience, as the conditions usually stay the same and it returns. If you were to change flow patterns, light to fertilizer mix etc, maybe it wouldn't return. At that point you wouldn't need to replace the plants either though.
