Melissa Ann
I have very hard water here in Nashville. I just started a dirted tank with three absolutely beautiful German rams included in the tank. My current GH test was 8-9 dH. Is this too hard for rams? If so, best way to soften? Andy's Fish Den
They will do fine. I have kept rams in my water and it runs between 12-15 dH.
MBStevens
I have very hard water with a kH of 22 (which is pretty extreme) and gH of 8. My rams have not lasted longer than 3 months, and a couple lasted one or two weeks. I have a feeling that the hardness was the source of our issues. I know they're supposed to be somewhat adaptable, but I think my water was just too much. I'm waiting until I move to another house with (hopefully) much softer water so I can try my favorite fish again. So, that said, I'm curious what your kH is as we know your gH. I really hope you have the best of luck with your rammies! They're so wonderful.
