WeehawkenFish Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Hey guys, my apisto has this weird white mark near it's back fins. It's the only spot it has and doesn't look like ick to me. Do you think it might just be a wound? Really hoping he's not sick....
Colu Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) It looks like an injury I would just monitor if it get worse treat with aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons Edited January 13, 2021 by Colu
WeehawkenFish Posted January 12, 2021 Author Posted January 12, 2021 @Coluthanks. I know people rave about having snails in the tank but this is my main issue with them. I can't dose my tank with salt, which Cory says can cure so mainy ailments.
FrozenFins Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 agree with @Colu use salt, if that doesn't work you can always use maracyn 1
Colu Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 If you can't use yous salt you can treat with maracyn that won't harm your snails
WeehawkenFish Posted January 18, 2021 Author Posted January 18, 2021 This marking hasn't gotten worse, but unfortunately it hasn't gone away either by any means. Can somebody give me some pointers if they have experience doing a salt dip? I've seen various different ratios given online.
tolstoy21 Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 I haven’t done a ‘salt dip’, but I have had apistos cacs in a hospital tank with salt at the rate 1 TBSP per 2 gallons of water without issue.
Mr_Manifesto Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 I would try some ICH-X too... anything that looks fungal or growth on the body of the fish, I use Ich-X. It treats a lot more than just ich.
