Fish identification thread!

Hi guys, I'm sure there are lot of beginners that often see a fish in a youtube video that catches their eye, but unfortunately you don't know the name. I would like to start this thread (I think there's none?) so people can come and post a screenshot of a fish and have it identified by the more knowledgeable people, that way we can keep these requests in one single thread? If an admin thinks this is sticky worthy, cool!

I'll start, I saw this tetra in one of cory's videos, anyone knows which one is it?

Sounds like a good idea to me.  I adopt other people's fish, so I may have a general idea what I have, It would be nice to know  a little more.  Here are the first two:

First one is moonlight gourami, and the other ones look like silver dollar (spotted one). Not sure of the other ones are sliver dollars too, or baby pacu hmmm.

These fish are at least 1-2 years old so thankfully, I can rule out baby Pacu.

The previous owner said they were Silver Dollars and a Somekinda Gourami🙂  I 'd never seen one bigger than about 2".

got this hitchhiker fry early autumn, buying cherry shrimp. now it looks like this. Think it is female but..? is it a killi, a rainbow, something else? it is living with some guppy males so if it were a guppy i reckon there'd be fry by now so...anybody? Hoped I could get it some buddies.20210130_201417.jpg.83d16e7f89ce11a7821c8b261bbc9443.jpg20210130_201822.jpg.de113a63833cd7a17ed9d150e866d449.jpg20201230_194555.jpg.ebd69f494ff5d41eacdf07cb1fb1211f.jpg

Looks like a female guppy. Maybe any fry that have been produced have been eaten.

Cool dwarf anchor cat by the way.

Yeah, you might be right but you think you'd see one fry at least once in a while. never seen the big belly either, but it sure looks a lot like a guppy. Thanks!

I have had silver dollar before but these develop bright colors I have not seen before. The red on the bellies and fins as well as the large single black. The picture does not do them justice. I'm working on a better photo technique. Has anyone else seen silver dollars with these colors or know what species they may be?

i can't get a good video of them but what do you think these are? petco sold them as pearl danios

I had to look up pearl danios as I'd never heard of them! They do look like the photo that came up. I wonder if they're real shy like dwarf emerald danios and CPDs.

That might be a Western Mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis), another livebearer that kind of looks like a guppy. If so, then I'd be careful with these as I heard they can be a bit aggressive.
