Jacqueline Kays Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 I have a 10 gallon planted rimless Betta tank and am currently running Fluval double sponge filter in it. I also have a 5 gallon with Aquarium Coop nano sponge filter in it. I love the filter so much I ordered a small Coop sponge filter and want to get rid of the double fluvial sponge. Can I remove it and add the new filter without crashing my tank? Please advise as how to switch over Thanks Jackie
lefty o Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 with plants, and im guessing some sort of substrate, you will have enough beneficial bacteria just to swap it out. im sure others will also say you need to put it in the tank with the other one for a few weeks too.
Wingman12r Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) Run them both concurrently for a week or 2. Each day turn the air down a little bit to restrict flow. Edited December 30, 2020 by Wingman12r
ChefConfit Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 @lefty o is probably right. There should be enough BB on the other surfaces to prevent a cycle crash, but I'd run them both at the same time for a few days just to be sure
