I suspect one key is having a proper ratio of fish. Another key is feeding live foods. We had snails consistently, but mosquito larvae only for part of the summer season. We tried Daphnia for awhile . . . never got into various live worms. And they aren't too keen on baby brine shrimp. Maybe once shrimp grow to adult size . . .
