Maybe they just are red and I’ve never noticed? Is he eating enough? He’s never interested in anything I give him but is always munching on the wood, plants, and glass. Hobbit Posted December 23, 2020 Share Posted December 23, 2020 He looks pretty good to me... the gills might be a tad red but my otos almost always have pink gills. Not red but pink. You’ll be able to judge the color better in real life than I can from a photo. I also have never seen my otos eating the food I provide, so I watch their bellies. If you look at your oto from the side, does his belly look a little round? If so, that’s good!
