What did you get done today?

Unfortunately today is sucking a bit. Working at my desk and heard a loud pop and heard glass hit glass. CO2 stopped coming out of the diffuser. Took a minute but found the 13 day old diffuser blew off its bottom. Two ordered on Amazon but delays are up there on shipping so I am going to have to call around all of Orlando to see who has one I may be able to get before early Sept.

Drug my tank out of the clutter and found it a stand. Going to finish cleaning it tonight. First aquarium in nearly 10 years and first time starting a tropical one by myself. (Backstory: I grew up around my dad’s well stocked and planted 95). Pardon the poor photography.

dont forget to give it a good leak test before setting it up in the house. its probably fine, but time can make em leak.

Changed out the levamisole in my guppy breeding tank. Can't seem to get motivated to do much these days. 1000s in bills of things that you don't expect coming up taking away from my fish care hobby and stress through the roof of my head with everlasting headaches... ready to shut it down for awhile at this point..

Making progress towards another 40 breeder that I am going to stock with Saulosi cichlids. Frame for shelves that I will be relocating my crested gecko terrarium to this stand, as it is currently on a stand i built for a 40 breeder. 20210828_140434.jpg.4cb6555d5960426eecbf0e60eb0bcfec.jpg

Here is the stand that will hold my new tank. I built it to hold two 40 breeders. It could potentiallyhold a 125 6ft x 18 in tank as well.20210828_153738.jpg.ab0bc70b8a6f1814a55e689ddb576a22.jpg

So this morning I pulled out an old five gallon to continue my brine shrimp culture for the winter months.  I pulled one of the two sponge filters from the outside brine shrimp pond and grabbed a handful of chaeto.  I use chaeto to help absorb the extra nutrients they produce.  Plus it is fast growing and  easy to sell. And by keeping a small amount alive I will have it ready for next spring. The temperature is set to 76f.

I took a very unflattering picture of my  5 gallon tank:

One of these days I'll be motivated to take a more flattering picture. Probably not tomorrow. In a few days I'm going to put 8 kubotai and 6 oto in this tank. It will be stuff from corner to corner. Before you'll grab the pick forks and skewer me they will only be in there for 4 to 8 weeks and then moved to the 40B (see pictures on page 49); where they will party non-stop with their friends. Ok now you can skewer me.

Mostly just been doing regular fishy maintenance lately. Killed more house plants. I give up on them. That's all I'm gonna say about that. The mollies are ecstatic about their upgrade. Being in my garage they still need the back ground and insulation put on aka cardboard and styrofoam. Upcycle for the win haha. Only took a whole week to get all the guppies and fry out of that 20 gallon. The poor plants... Sooo many fry.... Female guppies are temporarily in a 10 gallon with some of LRB's blue neos that I picked up at Aquashella Orlando. More on the way this week along with some mosses. Cull guppies are separated from the good males and fry. Don't know what I'm going to do with them yet. Also waiting on a small Coop order. It should be here tomorrow. Yay new plants. More pictures coming soon somewhere in forum.

Went to LFS to get a Nerite for Nicodemus' tank, and ended up bringing two cats home...

PXL_20210831_212025547.jpg.518bb80171a21b1b5629c829ff36a386.jpg

eyp: what are the tank parameters for those catfish?

lfs: they are basically goldfish, so same

eyp: what temperature is that tank?

lfs: don't know, but it doesn't have a heater so same as the store

eyp: which is?

lfs: let me look at the thermostat... 74F

eyp: How big would they get?

lfs: they'll stay that size, they are fully grown and can go in a 10 gallon tank

eyp: where did you get them

lfs: I don't know

eyp: what kind of food do they eat?

lfs: oh, flakes. We feed everyone the same flakes

eyp: are they a pair?

lfs: what do you mean?

eyp: male or female

lfs: I don't know

eyp: is it ok if I watch them for a bit to see if I can figure it out? it mens looking at their private parts...

lfs: you can't take them out of the tank!

eyp: wasn't planning on it, it is a glass tank

lfs: whatever, let me know if you want them and I'll bag them for you

eyp: are they edible?

lfs: what???

eyp: the only Channel cats I know are edible

lfs: that is not funny

eyp: I am not being funny, I have eaten them since I was a kid

lfs: gross

eyp: I'll take them please, as well as that Nerite

lfs: (shrugs)

I know I am a wicked human being, but that is the most fun I have ever had buying two male Bronze Corydoras!

How great to be able to build what you need. Good that it can hold so many options, too.
