I have corkscrew val in my 65, and I dose it with Excel 4-5 times per week.  I've never done the big initial dose it recommends on the label, but just the maintenance one.  It's growing just fine and sending off runners.

By the way, I've never had an algae problem in that tank, but after treating staghorn algae in another tank I noticed the plants definitely looked better, so I started using it in all my tanks.
