I was wondering if I could keep two couples, one of rams and one of either cacatuoides or agasizzi

Agasizzi would be lovely.  Get some where the male has bright red fins. We kept an adult pair of Cacatuoides with very young Rams, and they got along fine. It might be touch and go a bit . . . they're all cichlids, so a pecking order will need to be established! But it probably could work. Maybe check to see if someone's got good footage of it already working in their aquariums.

I went to Aquarium Coop the other day and got 5 more ember tetras and 9 panda corys (I was planning on 6, but I felt bad leaving just 3 in the tank so I took them all home 😁)

Next week I'll be getting some ottos so take care of some of the algae.

Thanks!

I thought 75's had the footprint of a 40 breeder and the height of a 55...., I'll look into it!

I'd love to have both, actually, lol. I'm just gonna have to wait a little bit for that... 💸💸💸

A standard 75 gallon footprint is 48x18, 40 breeder is 36x18, 55 gallon is 48x12, so none have the same footprint. if your looking for something same footprint as 40 breeder but more gallons, a 65 is same but taller. Same with a 90 gallon being same footprint as 75 but taller

That's right! I got 65 gallons and 75 gallons mixed.

I've been busy these past few weeks getting new fish into the tank. Last night I finally got my centerpiece fish: a pair of apistogramma agassizii!

Next, I'd like to get some marble hatchets for the top layer. Perhaps another pair of apistos. Although the tank is already populated enough at the bottom with the corys and the agassizii, I think that with the wider floorplan and the separated zones I made with the hardscape and the plants I might be able to do it. Thoughts?

2 month update: the tank is looking great. Plants are healthy, except fpr the echinodorus bleheri, which was outgrown by the neighboing plants and now is not getting enough light. It's funny that the two plants that haven't done well in this tank (the amazon sword and the val) are the two types that were the easiest for me when I started in the hobby.

I had one otocinclus die, and the female apisto is in the quarantine tank with a bad case of dropsy. I don't think she's gonna make it 😔
