Mississippi fish guy Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I recently found that my 55 gallon had a cycle crash after I changed the substrate. I’m going to transfer two sponge filters from and established tank to it when I get home. I was wondering if Api quick start works at all since I don’t have access to Fritz turbo start or zyme 7? I know it would be more of a bandaid but I need to keep the ammonia down. Also I left a bottle of prime in a car for a day by accident and I was wondering if that would cause it to not neutralize ammonia? Also how long does prime neutralize ammonia? 1
Administrators Cory Posted October 30 Administrators Posted October 30 Do you actually have ammonia? With cycled sponge filters going in, just take a few days off feeding and it should catch back up. your prime should be fine.

As far as the heat, who knows. and there isn't a good way to tell. It will still test positive for ammonia and nitrites even if detoxified 1
lefty o Posted October 30 Posted October 30 as much as i think bottled bacteria works, and is a good thing for a new tank, putting in established sponge filters will do everything the bottled stuff does, and more. 2
