One day I hope to be up there on a Saturday when the GSAS club is meeting so that I may attend. I am also finally going back to the San Francisco club next week, after not attending for a couple of years. I am also the speaker next week. 😅

Grabbed this flower for another local. Thought I’d add the plant auction here.

Hoping to make the auction on the 9th!

You definitely should! They're awesome for picking up random stuff. This time I'm making sure I have empty tanks ready to go. One your I got a gallon ziplock full of Süßwassertang for like $5.

If you help out and stay to the end you get credit towards the auction and you get to see the stuff up close. They always need volunteers, especially towards the end (plus that's when the crazy deals start).

Quick question for any experienced auction attendees.

If I'm able to make it, I'll still need to leave early. I understand there is a push pail for a nominal fee. After an item is bid on, is it effectively immediately paid for and transferred to the buyer? I won't be able to stick around until everything is done, so can someone use the push pail and expect to get the item soon after the bidding for the item ends?

How is works is you check in and you're given a number and card (or if you're a member you just have one). Then when something is sold then a "runner" brings the item to the person who won and a recorder keys the bid amount and winner's number.

Then when you go to leave you check out and they have your balance in the computer (if you bright things that haven't sold yet they'll mail a check).
