Justin V1
The BBA has been really winning the war in my tank and I’ve found it hard to gain ground against it. In the process of researching options to attack this problem I stumbled across the “Reverse Respiration” method. After reading through it I thought this might be a solid solution. It all made perfect sense and given that I just needed to get some seltzer water, why not give it a shot. I followed the simple instructions and as of this morning I’m pleased to announce that the three plants I soaked last night all have bright red BBA on them now. Here’s a few pics 2
Guppysnail
When it comes to black beard algae RED IS DEAD 🥳 usually once it turns red my fish shrimp and snails start eating it. We recently discover several seltzer brands switched and became seltzer water. An alternative is club soda. I see in the photos you bought “the good stuff”. Polar is one that still works. 1
Justin V1
@GuppysnailThank you so much! I’m looking forward to soaking the remaining plants that have BBA on them.
Guppysnail
In case you did not get to read far enough… leaves that are already dying will be what we call ph pruned…melt off. Healthy leaves are unaffected but already dying…well there is no saving.
Justin V1
@Guppysnail Yes, I did read that, thank you. I removed a few damaged ones before putting them back in the tank. I’ll keep dosing with Easy Green, but wondering about Florish Excel? Do you have experience dosing Florish Excel post Reverse Respiration?

I do t use chemicals when possible. This includes not using fertilizer
