Luca
I wanted to get carida shrimp but wanted to add them to the tank that is already established is that possible. It is a no heater tank so am like mid to high 60 and I don't know tds or pH is. There is botanicals so I would guess like 6.8-7 because my water is very alkaline out the tap. It is very bio diverse with tons of different worms and microfana(see second picture). Are there any species that are easiest to care for but still are buetiful to live with cherry shrimp? Thanks so much
Lynaea
I wouldn’t try mixing Caridina with Neocaridina shrimp, their choice parameters are very different. You could keep Amanos or some of the other larger shrimp like bamboo or vampire. Your setup looks good, what size tank is it?
Justnotrook
I keep Caridina shrimp with neocaridinas all the time, usually some nice crystal shrimp with some neocaridinas. I also keep some black King Kong shrimp. I usually recommend Amano shrimp, blue bolt shrimp, crystal shrimp, black King Kong shrimp, sometimes Sulawesi shrimp, bamboo shrimp, and vampire shrimp. But DO NOT get a ghost shrimp, it will leave your tank in ruin.
mynameisnobody
The temps are radically different, as well as the parameters. For every time it has worked, it probably has failed 1000 times. Edited September 29 by mynameisnobody
AdamS
I really want to try this for a small kids tank. That way they could have two different colors of shrimp that don’t eventually just go back to brown. But I agree the parameters look too far off. If you were going to pull it off you’d end up with both species not super happy with the water parameters. It’s been 5 years. I get some brown or clear now and then but I get mostly red and orange. Most of the reds and orange have even become higher quality than my originals and I get some rilli pattern to. Don’t fear mixing colors. I sent some to @GoofyGarra he has a beautiful colony from them
Guppysnail
Here is one of my tanks to show what my skittles morphed into over 5 years. There are some brown and clear but they don’t stick out. Mixing provides a broader genetic base and seems to make them hardier in my opinion
