notronaldreagan
I currently have had my 75 gallon tank set up for about a month now and the rams I have are doing great. Im having a bit of an issue with brown alge or diatoms. I put in a bristle nose pleco and he has done some work in the week he has been in there. Was looking for any further advice to cut down or get rid of this problem. Would a single alge eater be ok since I plan to add discus in 3 to 4 months
Fish Folk
How many plants do you have in the aquarium? One way to describe algae is to liken it to ants in your kitchen. They get there because something is available for them to eat. The way to lock up nutrients, is to cut algae back as much as possible, then add many, many plants 🌱 🪴 🌿… they’ll absorb extra available nutrients, leaving little for algae to thrive off of. But some types of algae (e.g. Black Beard Algae) are just so hard to extirpate. Here is an algae guide that is worth studying in great depth.
