Will this hair grass recover or should I remove it.

I planted this hair grass a few weeks ago and the majority of it looks pretty dead but I can see a few new blades shooting up.

 

Should I remove it and just let it be?

I'd leave it alone. It's very common for new plants to melt back after they're initially planted. If you find the dead portion too unsightly go ahead and trim it, but I personally like to leave it alone so that the plant can recover as many nutrients as possible for the new growth.

The dead parts will stay dead. the roots, or maybe runners, are still alive. I would trim the top, leave the underground bits and wait to see if it recovers.

Do you perhaps have snails in your tank?  If so, then let them chow down on the dead foliage and they will leave the new stuff alone.

The main plant seems dead but it's definitely spreading. Personally I would just leave it because I'm lazy but you can cut the dead parts down. Don't uproot it though.

Seem like its just converting to submerged form. Give it some time.

Oh there are definitely snails, I got a bunch of bladder snails hijacking my plants. I did get an assassin snail to help keep them in check.

 

Thanks all for the advice I am just going to leave it for now. All the other plants are going great.
