Mira
I had a dwarf aquarium lily that was growing very well. One day during maintenance I accidentally popped the bulb off the big vegetative growth/roots. I thought the big growth with roots would die, but it is fine and putting out new leaves. Its been at least 3 months. Is this normal? Will it grow another bulb?
ange
Think of the bulb as a yolk in an egg. It feeds the plant until it has another source of nutrients such as root tabs. Dwarf lilies are propagated by removing daughter plants from the bulb and planting them elsewhere. So long as you continue supplying nutrients to the bulb, it will keep growing more plants. If the nutrients run out, the bulb depletes nutrients in order to keep the attached plants healthy and may die in the long term.
Mira
Thank you! I kept the bulb and I bet it will grow again with enough time. @ange
