JE47 Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 As we have entered the month of December and all the Holiday classics play on the TV I was wondering what is everyone's favorite Christmas movie and why? For me it is the Polar Express as long as I can remember my family has always gotten our tree the weekend right after thanksgiving. Once we decorated the tree at night we would light it up have hot chocolate and watch this movie. It will forever remind me of my family and is a tradition I would hope to carry on with my family. I do enjoy Home Alone though for the comedic side and because I love the music! 1
Guppysnail Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 A Christmas Story is my favorite. Hubby and I watch it and the sequels every year. I make finger foods and we snuggle in for the marathon. I also must admit to being a senior citizen child at heart. We still watch the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas cartoon (1966) I still enjoy the old stop motion animation Rudolf and Frosty etc. Of those The Year without a Santa Claus (1974) is my favorite. Hubby is always cold and I’m always hot. We giggle each year over us being the Miser brothers 🤣 1 2
Tanked Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Lets hear it for Senior Citizen Children at Heart! A Mammoth Christmas. Prancer: "My family raised me to be kind to strangers, and there is nobody stranger than you guys!" Sid is so ugly he's cute, but the cameo appearances by Scrat make it for me. 1 2
Tanked Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Yesterday I watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) for the first time. I like these movies for the old "technology". SCCM will never be a favorite, but what's not to like about: a world that has achieved interplanetary travel using: knife switches, airlocks with door knobs, crazy space helmets, and campy dialogue, makeup and costumes.? 2 1
DaveO Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 (edited) There are so many to choose from. This year, and for the last few years, my favorite Christmas movie is the 1944 musical 'Meet Me In St. Louis'. Judy Garland is at her best in this classic, but my favorite character in the show is Tootie, played by the great child actress Margaret O'Brien. If you haven't seen this one you are missing out. Shadow Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 (edited) I watch the same 3 every Christmas Day.... A Christmas Story, Home Alone and Die Hard. It's not Christmas until you see Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi Plaza. Nuff said. Edited December 18, 2023 by Shadow 2 1
Allen Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 My must watch Christmas movies are, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas story, Home Alone 1 and 2. I added 2 new movies last year and they are, 8 bit Christmas, I highly recommend it, especially if you grew up in the 80's! The second movie is A Christmas Story Christmas, if you love Christmas Story this is a must watch, it's the original Ralphie as a father going back home for Christmas! 2

Mississippi fish guy Posted Friday at 04:00 AM Posted Friday at 04:00 AM Once while at my grandparents house a few years ago there was a play turned on title “a Christmas carol goes wrong”. After I remember about it a year or two ago it we watched it and it may become one of the Christmas movies. I think I had trouble breathing the first time I watched though it is possible I might be confusing it with Peter Pan goes wrong or the goes wrong show. Home alone 1 and 2 have been classics for my family as long as I can remember as well as Rudolph the red-nose reindeer, the original grinch, and frosty the snowman. Some other classics are a three episodes of Donald Duck, with one title toy tinkers, and one where Donald and Huey, Dewey, and Louie were in a snowball war and one were Donald is playing hockey with his nephews. 2 2
Tony s Posted Friday at 04:57 AM Posted Friday at 04:57 AM Honestly, I find that I always find time to watch White Christmas. With Danny Kay and Bing Crosby. It’s way before I was even born. Kind of cheesy. But I always enjoy it. 1

If you can find them. Of course, I suppose you could stream them. But that’s no fun. I love these for young kids. 2
Tanked Posted Friday at 03:27 PM Posted Friday at 03:27 PM A Charlie Brown Christmas. 1964. While not really a favorite, it has it's moments, and kind of grows on you. The Linus and Lucy dance music, Linus' the meaning of Christmas, and especially the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I have one in front of the house. with a single red ornament. I doubt if anyone gets the joke; they probably just think I'm weird. 2
JE47 Posted Friday at 09:15 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:15 PM To add to my favorite Christmas movies list this year is Miracle on 34th Street (1994) I know slightly controversial especially for fans of the 1947 version 1

Darth Nerm Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago My all time favorite is Elf, followed by The Santa Clause. Other annual Christmas movies are The Grinch (2018. I like the original and the live action versions better, but my younger sibling doesn't, so...), the stop motion Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, Arthur Christmas, and there may be others that I'm forgetting, lol. 🎄☃️🦌 1 2
Tanked Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Rudolf, Frosty, The Grinch, and Charlie Brown will probably remain animated Christmas classics for a long time. It seems that as the technology improves, marketing is driving the need for more movies, making it harder to remember them all. On Thanksgiving I watched Reindeer In Here starring Blizzard. (2022) Not to be confused with Blizzard the movie (2003) starring a different reindeer named Blizzard. If you want to go dark Put the little kids to bed and watch Violent Night. That might become my new favorite. 1
xXInkedPhoenixX Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Jim Henson's "The Christmas Toy" made me believe all of my toys and stuffed animals were alive FAR FAR FAR before Toy Story ever existed. His puppets in this were lovely as well. Edited 4 hours ago by xXInkedPhoenixX 1 1
