I found the perfect aquarium overflow that involves no drilling

This makes me slightly mad, seeing as i gave up on trying to find a good overflow system and built a fish rack without them. But the fact that this has flown under the radar is unacceptable to me. Here is a youtube vid that also covers it.

I was debating on making something similar to this using PVC trim material from Home Depot. For redundancy, it should have 2 siphon tubes just in case.

I've stopped using lift tube-based overflows after many flooding incidents.  At some point, air will fill the tube and the suction will stop.  With the above design, because it's opaque, you might not even see this happening (until your floor is wet).

I will never, ever, ever, ... x1000, use a lift tube-based overflow again.

check on YouTube for king of diy 10$ DIY aquarium overflow. (not $10 anymore though) It solves the main problem with these type of lift overflows loosing prime by using a small vacuum pump to keep air out.  I can't attest to it 100% yet anyway, I am setting up a tank with it in the next couple weeks and will post the build and provide some feedback on this design.
