sairving
After work, I stopped at the fish store to pick up more plants. Then the hard work started. I pulled all the plants out that I was going to use, went in the basement looking for my small pieces of dragonstone, gently moved my shy guy to a bucket, and got to work. Once I cleaned the tank up, I moved the stand to clean underneath and behind it. The dust bunnies weren't too bad yet lol.
sairving
Once the tank was relatively cleaned up, the fun part started. I bought brought out 3 small pieces of manzinita wood, a small bag od UNS controsand in mojave, controsoil, and more dragonstone. I managed to find half a bag of fluval stratum in the basement. So I used that instead of the controsoil. My initial plan was to use mesh bags to contain the aqausoil, but I had enough dragonstone to make a barrier.
sairving
Next came planting the tank and refilling it. The driftwood decided to float and uprooted my crypt parva. I'll fix it tonight. Luckily the lid is holding it down. Took this today. I love the color of the sand. It turns a brown red when wet. I also added the spin pipe on the filter.

sairving
@Guppysnail Thanks! I'm happy with how this one turned out. Today, I replanted all the plants that floated over the last day and fertilized the water column.
sairving
Did my first waterchange on Tuesday and fertilized the tank with Iron, Potossium and the general fertilizer I have. I use dry ferts from GLA. This afternoon, I removed any melted plants and moved the banana lily. Colonal Mustard was very upset I disturbed his bubble nest. The plants are looking pretty good. Only one that melted so far was the bacopa. I'm really surprised the buce is doing decent. Colonal Mustard's fins are finally starting to heal. The driftwood that was previously in the tank was tearing his fins. Next on the list is to fix the tube for the filter.
sairving
This afternoon, I decided to take a trip to my LFS. I needed a few plants to fill in some gaps and anubias. While at the store, I decided to buy a small school of Ember tetras. Orginally, I was mulling over shrimp but thatvwould be an expsensive snack for my betta. The lighting has also been dimmed a bit. I've had some algae growth but not too much. So far, Col Mustard has left the tetras alone. He decided to hide from them lol. His fins are healing really well. Rescaping the tank has helped.

Glad your betta is healing up as well.

knee
I really like this scape. It kinda reminds me of what my 60 gallon would look like if it was smaller. That sand color matches with the dragon stone so well. Glad the betta is happy and healing!
