Dandy Pearl
It depends on the specific bread and age of the fish. Any young fish can be kept in a 20 long. However, many breads will outgrow this tank. Some breeds only get 4-6 inches, they could live in a 30 or 40g. While other breads get up to 24 inches long. You will nee 100g +++ for these. Do the research on the bread you want to keep and plan accordingly. I'm on the hunt to replace my14inch common pleco in my 72g bow front main tank. He just couldn't turn around well and I donated him to my LFS. I will have a harder time finding one that stays small enough for my 37g tank. Good luck in your search for a pleco. There are soo many cool varieties.
