Pepere
I had some hornwort in a tank that had threads of thread algae intermingled with it. I removed what I could and soaked it in Seltzer overnight and put it back in the tank the next morning. 4 days later it is falling apart disintegrating… just figured I would share my experience with others…. Guppysnail
When my hornwort is not in the best shape and has algae it does the same thing. The good news is it seems to get a boost from the extra co2 and grows back faster than normal and for me usually much more lush.
Tanked
For me the Hornwort apocalypse began after using Alum. A one day soak instead of the suggested 3 day soak was too much. I used to grow enough Hornwort and bladder snails feed the omnivores, or give away. A tiny surviving piece never grew and fell apart a year later. I dont have much hope for recovery. Not only are needles shed all over the place, but the stems are disintegrating as well.. I suspect I will need to buy new…
HelplessNewbie
We had this same experience with an overnight soak. Now we only RR-soak the hornwort for 1 hour. We did it with my most recent batch and it seems to have worked well for us: It is at this moment providing shelter for some guppy fry: Edited Sunday at 02:00 PM by HelplessNewbie
