Pepere
Well, I lost my Serpae Tetras and Harlequin Rasboras in one 29 gallon tank. I have both species in another 29 gallon tank, so now I am thinking of going in a different direction. I have 2 female American Flag Fish and 6 Emerald Green Corydoras as clean up crew, and 4 Killifish that predominantly surf the top surface. The Killifish are aging out, and I expect they will be gone before another year is up. looking for ideas for middle of the tank. 1
Fish Folk
I’m liking my adult Red Swordtails. Constant color. They’d get along fine with Flagfish.
Kurt Brutting
Furcata Rainbow Fish are pretty beautiful. They explore everywhere though but most mid to top level.
Rube_Goldfish
How about a pair of honey gourami? Mine are all over the place. I know @Lennie will back me up!

I know @Lennie will back me up! I only have one male honey gourami. Never kept them in groups. I have my sparklings and golds in groups instead. We don't have american flagfish here but I remember hearing them being a bit agressive sometimes. I can't be sure a honey gourami would be a nice choice there. I would only add a schooling fish to this tank rather than a potential centerpiece I guess. Also my LFS once said their killifish were also bullies so they had to seperate them to their own tank. Im not sure what killis we are talking about here or if they are bullies but since gouramis love the top side I would skip I used to have 10 rummynose tetras, 1 honey gourami, 5 sterbai cories, orange sakura neocaridinas and L199 in 29g. I loved that setup. But the tank was old so I upgraded to a bigger tank and I can tell rummynoses love longer tank better. I think I would add barbs that are more on the peaceful and small in size. Gold barbs, odessa barbs, or cherry barbs maybe? I love Rosy barbs also and they dont grow as big as internet says in my experience. I have my babies raised and they are also not as big as internet says. I agree with seriouslyfish mentioning they usually staying around 6-7cm and not reaching 9-10. Speaking of peaceful, I only have rosy barbs and they are peaceful, idk others. Edited September 18 by Lennie
Ben P.
My next tank is going to be pseudomogil luminatis. I believe it's called the red neon blue eye rainbowfish. Stunning and a bit of a different color for freshwater. Could have 10 in a 29 easily
Pepere
The killis I have are as peaceful as can be. I have t experienced aggression with American Flag Fish even when there was a male in with the two females. I had a Dwarf Gourami in with them and they werenever seen until I rehomed the Dwarf Gourami. I ended up buying 5 veil tail Cherry Barbs. Never had those before, and 6 Glow light Tetra in quarantine marinating in med trio right now. I might add another school of small tetras or Rasboras as well later on.

Kabutai Rasbora, emerald green Rasbora, white clouds, and a few others would be pretty special in that tank. CPDs as well fit the setup. Sounds great. I think you might even get away with some melon barbs.

Could have 10 in a 29 easily I have 10 luminatus in a 13 gallons easy 🙂 One could go for 20 or more in a 29. Just with a good male/female ratio, or start them young On 9/18/2023 at 2:38 AM, Kurt Brutting said: Furcata Rainbow Fish are pretty beautiful. Consensus here is furcata is the only one of the pseudomugil that should not be kept in a species only tank, they will make a strong hierarchy where only one male will be dominant and everything else will be bullied and the tank doesnt work. They do ok if they are paired with bigger fish. Gertrudae, paskai and luminatus do great in a single species setup according to experience
