Pepere
Saturday morning water change same as always. 50% all three tanks, clean glass trim plants… I alway mix up some Seachem Equilibrium, and Alkalinity buffer in a quart of water and use dechlorinator as I refill the tank, adding a bit of the mix a little at a time to raise gh, kh as I fill with tap water… Today within minutes of completing on one tank, I noticed dead serpae tetras and Harlequin Rasboras floating around… in fact all of the Serpaes and Harlequins died after the water change, and none of the other fish… killi fish, corydoras, flag fish, none showing any stress at all… Tested the water. No discernible chlorine, Gh and kh both at 6 degrees which is my target 0.5 ppm ammonia which is normal after a water change as my tap has 1 ppm ammonia chronically. No nitrites, nitrates at 20 ppm… water temp 75. Inkbird controler set to turn on at 74 and off at 76… And the testing for the other two tanks are pretty much in lockstep. And I do have Serpaes and Harlequins in another tank… and they are showing no stress… I have been doing weekly water changes like this for 18 months now… Go figure… Edited September 16 by Pepere
redfish
Yes it does. Even when doing everything "right" this kind of stuff happens. I help others with their tank when asked but I hate when they do everything you advise them to do and their fish still keep dying.
