Overhanging riverbank setup

I've been toying with the idea of doing a tank that's set up like a riverbank or marshy area where the bank comes out over the water a little with plants growing.

I got the idea from this river in a park we go to often:

Has anyone here fine something like this? Is there a term for this?

Reminds me of a mangrove a bit.  I think the style is just called a biotope aquascape.

I think the closest thing I can think of in terms of a named style would just be a paludarium, but in your case you specifically want the plants to hang down.

Edit: Nope, I just learned a new (to me) word: riparium, and I think it's what you're looking for.

Having a riparium would be awesome! There are quite a few species of fish (especially smaller ones) that like hiding in that sort of habitat. I think It would be neat if you did it in a biotope form of a specific water body, whether it simulates your creek which you have shown, or another body of water around the world. Having a tank like that is something I would like to do someday.

Buceplant has an article on "pond tanks" which sound like it may be what you're talking about?

There are also tanks using wabi kusa method to achieve "bank" height without using soil.
