HelplessNewbie
We have a used green (but not sure uf ACO brand) sponge filter (estimated medium size) that burps every 10 seconds through the bullseye, not the sides of the sponge. It is missing the original uplift tube (I think it is 9/16" inner diameter), but we placed a slightly smaller diameter hose in its place (5/16"). We shoved a regular airstone inside the strainer cage. Tried reducing the airflow but that just lengthens the time between burps. Any ideas? MattyM
Have you tried: just putting the tubing into water, no air stone, and see if it's the pump? a different air stone? removing the uplift tube? running the sponge filter w/o an air stone?
mynameisnobody
If the length of airline connecting the airstone is too long, it’ll burp a large bubble up shorten that airline to very small and it’ll fix itself.

That fixed it! I ended up clipping the end of the airstone stem, too. Will keep these in kind in case it happens in another setup. Thank you!
