Milliardo Peacecraft
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck having severums in a planted aquarium and if so, what sort of plants have survived them. I've always found them quite interesting, but everything I've read online seems to point to them being little terrors in regards to plants. I was curious if that was really true or if there are some types of plants that do survive them.
Guppysnail
@dasaltemelosguy tried every thick hard plant with his. They are lawnmowers. He feeds them heads of lettuce 😲
mynameisnobody
Every Severum I’ve known or owned has shown a love of eating plants and a hatred of seeing plants thrive. They love decimating plants, it’s just sort of what they do. It’s a real shame too because they are quite docile for cichlid standards.
dasaltemelosguy
Hi @Milliardo Peacecraft, I've had Severums for 4 years and never had a success with a plant. If it's vegetative, they'll eat it. I went on a Facebook Severum group recently and the most common question is "What plants can you keep with Severums?" and the answer inevitably is "plastic"! 🤣 This is what happens when I've placed any plant in a Severum tank: 2
