JoeQ
Looking for an Aquasoil that doesn't expressly advertise its ability to buffer down PH (sorry Stratum fans) Anyone expired with the Landen brand?
Mmiller2001
I’ve used it. It does lower KH as nearly all Aqua soils do.

I'll probably go with it then, I'm only doing a 15 gallon so im assuming 1 bag will be sufficient. I can always cap with cheap blasting sand.

Yup, well aware of the aqua soil ammonia spikes, which are no bother to me. I usually end up cycling my tanks for a good 6 month out of pure laziness. 2 years in storage after purchase, 6 months to cycle, its just how I roll!! 😎

If that's an option you consider. My kh from tap is pretty high, around 20, so it couldnt really make any changes on my kh and ph to be fair. Has been a while since I didnt check it but the last time I checked the lowest I've seen was around 13 if I'm not mistaken.

I went with @Mmiller2001 backing and ordered a bag, if he 'likes it a lot' thats all the endorsement I need. But darn!!! at 40 bucks a bag I'm not sure I would have tried it if it was for a bigger tank!

I figured a bit over 400 to do my 120 if I went with Landen. The best thing about Landen is it won't go to mush as quickly as the other brands. You should get 5 years or more out of it. Just recharge it every so often.
Mmiller2001
Joe Harvey and Gregg Zydeck both use Landen and have been able to get about 5 years out if it. 1
