We have a betta, a mystery snail and 1 lone surviving green neon tetra (originally 10) inhabiting already ~1 week. I failed to mention this was a fish-in cycle with live plants.

anything is better than "cycle". its never been cycling an aquarium, its always been establishing the bacteria colony.
