Galabar
I enjoy having a night light on my tanks. This is for me rather than the fish. With the Fluval Planted 3.0, there is a choice of colors. I was using blue (1%), but have recently switched to pink (1%). I have it shut off after 2am (when I'm almost guaranteed to be asleep). My understanding is that *some* fish can't see red light. So, it seems like pink might be the better choice. Thoughts?
nabokovfan87
I love using the green. (Aquasky light) Between the two, the pink/red makes things in the tank look a bit weird. Because of that, I tend to use blue if I use that light. It would be nice to have the choice of what that color is, but just limitations of this version of the light and their LED choice. They can see all the colors. Keep in mind they are basically designed to be able to see in lowlight conditions.

Pepere
The color choice of the fluval 3.0 is quite abysmal in my personal opinion. Red is very weak and more pink than red. The blue is quite odd, and green is pulled from the white spectrums only… To get any real PAR from the light you have to heavily turn on the warm white channel which has lots of muddy yellow.. The best aspect to the Fluval 3.0 is the app to set the various channels. If they built a ficture with that app, and with good color diodes, I would wait in line to buy it… I have pulled them off my tanks and they are in hibernation in the basement… I like the color and intensities offered by the finnex planted plus ALC light which has been discontinued and limited to remaining stock. (Word has it they are in beta testing a replacement lamp for it.). My hope is for the same diodes, but have the darn thing use a 30 minute ramp between settings rather than 3 hours, and for petes sake make it IP 68! It is the brightest of the finnex planted plus series with independent red, blue and green diodes , the red being 660 nm. as well as white diodes. The Finnex planted plus HLC has a single diode that has red blue and green channels in a single diode along with 2 white diodes for ever colored. The light output and color rendering is rather anemic in comparison… there are two other planted plus series lights I dont have hands on experience with. for twilight viewing, I like 20% blue 10% green with the ALC.
