JoeQ
With the hot weather I'm looking to reduce temperatures though water changes. My question is: what degree of a change will be safe for my fish? Example my tank is 80 degrees, with a 50% water change can I refill with 70 degree water, or will that 10 degree difference be too much of a change in too short amount of time? Beardedbillygoat1975
I think when you get above 10 degrees you’re opening yourself up to more issues. Shock and stress related illness is what I’m worried about. If you need more than the 5 degrees running a fan over the surface can get you another 3 degrees. Another way I know some people will do this is add a water bottle that’s frozen but I’d save this for gasping fish or temps in the 90+ when you’re trying to get your tank closer to 80. Thanks, that what I was thinking, 10 degrees being the biggest acceptable difference. Im a worry wort tho so I only did 3 degrees difference . It still got me nervous tho!!!! 😂 On 7/2/2023 at 12:58 PM, Pepere said: Realistically? How much do you want to lower the temp? No set goal, just randomly wondering.
